I think there is one more fully restored yellow one around Applecross area. However there is an ultra rare manual black sedan as well. Met the guy one day when I was down at pace bm scavenging parts for my Wagon. He got it from Melbourne originally with Mobil 1 plates and was trying to convince me it used to belong to Brocky.
Randomly found a couple of shots of it

It still even has the little Volvo Motorsport badge on the bootlid.
Very cool.

Does look good in black but less likely to upset the neighbours than a yellow one! :-)

If you want a black one, you may as well go for an 850R though.

That was mine in Perth. It was purchased from NSW approx 2010 and shipped to Perth. The original rego was MOBILE1. I could note prove it but I think it had a tie up with Peter Brock. The car was reasonbly stock only to have a reverse intercooler and cat back system. I had dyno sheets stating it produced 158kw at the wheels. The car was bought by a person in Tamworth and sent back in about 2012/3. I wish i never sold it but i know its gone to a better home to be restored to its former glory. The photo was taken outside pace motors in Canington. These guys were great getting any parts that I required. The other contact I had was from a guy named Nick at Barbagellos in cannington, what he didnt know was not worth knowing. I had a second set of tyres from another car which Mark has just purchased

I think @jonbot‌ worked on or saw this car while it was at Tamworth
jonbot
it turned up at work on a tilt tray with a popped heater hose and a cooked engine
from what i recall, the owner was going to rebuild the engine

Yep My old car, Terry didnt get it from NSW, it came from me in melbourne, And it was registered with Mobil 1 in the volvo service book when sold new.

Interesting history. Display car or rep car for the product?
iceton1975
Who knows?

The car has had HISTORY!, I got it from the auctions stolen recovered, slight damage to front and rear bars knocked around a bit, Then when I had it, went to check out an 850R for sale in geelong, the panel shop guy reversed his big arse ute into the rear quarter panel and door causing some $6000 of damage, new panel bought and welded in, and resprayed, then I broke the windscreen stealing timber!DOH windscreen guy rested on the dash and broke the clips holding it to the bulk head , THE last straw, then I sold it for a V70R 2004

Its jinxed?

Sorry Mark is correct it was from Melbourne regret selling the car. I found Mark was honest when I bought it and yes I would agree in the end the car was jinxed. When the new owner called and explained what happened I was gutted, I spent good money having repairs done only to have it fail. The only reason for selling at the time was not getting used and having a company car. The last I heard of the car was it was being rebuilt. Dealing with the owner at the time my contact was looking for an exchange motor through Volvo but none around....??? My contact had found one in the US for around $5k before shipping etc. This info was passed on but from there lost contact, either way left a lasting impression. since then the bugs bitten again and just purchased a 87 240 so what to do. Reading other posts heaps of options but what to do first.

Berry are rebuilding the 2.3 motors now. Why get a re man motor? Seems silly!
