S60R_MT
Hi all,
My S60R had collar sleeve broken/stripped for over a year and I didn't bother replacing.
Now, because shaft had too much movement it caused one of the diff bolts to get loose, which in turn damaged gearbox housing and produced a lot of metal inside the gearbox.
The end result: need new gearbox.
Here in AU, the R is very rare and it is almost impossible to find gearbox replacement, unless ordering new.
Does anyone now any places that could possibly have second hand M66c for sale.
Thanks.

Volvo
Or import one from overseas
It will probably cost you less to rebuild the existing box
Unless there is damage to the housing itself it can be rebuilt

Housing can be welded but at cost....

Depending on what is damaged, you may be able to rebuild it using a combination of new parts and parts from an XR5 M66 (FWD) box. They are easy to find here. You may even be able to swap it over and run the FWD box if you would want to...

@iceton1975 just bought one he may wreck.

The actual housing is carved to the point where it made a hole in it, hope i can welde it otherwise will have to get a new gearbox which cost around 6 grand. Was thinking of getting a FWD but the car is tuned and would spin all over the place with the front wheels only.
It has 380 hp, 520nm and 21 psi...
Thanks guys. Much appreciated.

The $1000 you will spend on welding and $500 on machining will be cheap compared to getting a new box
Be prepared to project manage though

Also FWD with a proper LSD would be no issues
I have driven 500WHP 850's before
Drive fine as long as they have a proper LSD to keep things in check

If it's a casing issue, you should be able to weld it to build up the damaged/broken area and then mill it back if it's a fitting/sealing surface.
Costly, and will require some expertise, but likely not to mount up to the cost of a new replacement.
Post up some pics of the carnage if you can.
