Its not the one Berry had, that one had black wheels and a bunch more kilometers. But I loveeee that car! Love the colour. Trent if you buy it I'll happily adopt your 04 R though ;)

Laser blue R with 130k for $9k is good buying. I'd expect it'd get picked up quickly.

I'd personally prefer a 1997 or 1998 Saffron one.
* No ETM
* Real R suspension rather than the higher ride height and more conservative spring and shock package from 99/00 cars
* Comets in 17"

That's personal preference stuff though, if kms are genuine (no reason they wouldnt be) and it's been well maintained, it'd be a good buy.

Maybe, but not neccessarily.

Cam's old car (laser blue, reg PRW 762, the one that Berrys recently sold) came with a 16" wheel but not a 16" Comet like this car has.
The 99 and 2000 V70R cars, in addition to their toned down suspension (much like all of the US market R cars), also ran a silly 205/55/16 tyre on their 16" wheels, so end up with an XC rather than 'sporty' look about them.

This car may have been ordered with 17s from new and changed to 16s for an even more comfy ride.

Agreed. A mate of mine had a saffron, manual, late 1997 V70R. it did well over 300k without any major issues, it met its demise being written off by it's next owner.

Yeah, dualies look cool.

The upgraded Timing belt tensioner design is worth it in a second (Cheaper and better design)

Also... just being able to plug in Vida and see live data and do any diagnostics in a second should be a compelling argument

I do love the colour and contemplated changing my R to that but that is silly idea....
As Mike says , the ETM is a non issue , can be repaired in Melbz even.
The only thing is the throttle 'feel' not the same as cable?? I dont know , havent driven both to know.
As for dual exhausts , i am considering now if i will do that or put the non R bumper on the back of my R and use the LHS outlet with some fiddling of the pipe routing and use one different muffler ( i have a set of dual Monaro S/S and Y part siting here but the tube dia is smaller , may cut and see whats inside them...could use one or two of these as they are smaller than the R ones ) I dont like the ugly patched LHS bumper outlet , my reason for going with non R cover...
The better tensioners and VVT and ME7 are ALL a better thing than the earlier ones.

Good arguments, no doubt, but the cable throttle has a better feel to it and the simplicity of the pre '99 cars is not without its appeal to the DIYers that cars of this age can find themselves in the hands of.

I've got an R rear bar on mine now, with openings on both sides. I never used to like the quasi twin exhaust systems, but I've done a 180 on it and will have a twin outlet system on mine, post reg and RWC.

The spring in the accelerator is pretty well tuned to "feel" like a 98. Superficially at least.

Really? I'd always felt them to be laggy between pedal input and throttle movement/opening.
Could be in my head I guess.

There is less lag once it had the later software but you are right that there is more lag just that the foot response is more like it should be than many other ETM cars.

i used to have an LS (2007) Ford Focus as a company car. Throttle response lag on that was horrendous!
My bosses got LT Focuses next and it was hugely improved.
