Ex850R At least you can use the info Mark provides to get those prices. They will no doubt try to charge lots but front them and call their bluff.
JES47 Will ring Mark, I have to drive to Ballarat in a couple of weeks. Might as well stay an extra day or so & go to Melb.
hamishb I need a new remote fob for my 2004 V70 so Mark I will give you a call to find out how you can help me.
nickm Nice work Mark I went through this to get a spare for my S40, dealer BS in Australia we would be looking at minimum $1000 for a fob,key and "programming"....for a $4000 car with no mechanical issues. reality a $40 key fob maybe a bigger problem maybe $100 Then the Vida dice BS. tops $200
Brigadier272 Is it necessary to get a key coded? Won't a copy do the job for a basic key without remote entry, take me home lights etc?
nickm I had a key cut for my S40 2002. They remove the code ecu and program a key to match it. $200 for 2 keys

nickm The locksmith had a program to pull the code from the unit. They have to physically remove the unit to clone the key. He said he could do most models of Volvo as long as the unit was accessible.
JR4 Hi guys I lost one set of my 2013 Volvo XC60 key/fob over the weekend and would ideally like a replacement. Any ideas on the best way to go about this? I contacted Volvo and its going to set me back $710. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Joel
Chris Get a new key from Berry Motor Group and have a Volvo dealer code it. I did this for my V50, and a colleague did it recently for a 2010(?) XC 60. I think hers was a bit over $400 for key and coding
bigal I actually have a couple of new fob cases which includes the new spring mech.. Need to do the swap over.
kyril Yeah I need a new case as the spring locking mechanism is shot in both mine. The bloody fob is ridiculously large without the actual key always out!
JohnF I had a key cut for a 2004 XC90 for $57 at a locksmith in Port Lincoln. The key opens doors but won’t start the car, in fact I was advised not to ever put the key in the ignition as it may cause major drama. You could lock the ignition key in the car and everyone have a door key.
Philia_Bear bigal;c-101351 wrotewonder if we can downsize to a newer and smaller fob. @Philia_Bear this possible? Never tried or wanted to I like the big fob....
