So, I bought this from @zzdhalla‌ back in 2013 and totally said it would get back on the road. And it is!
The car was bought in 68 in Canberra and then exported by the owner to South Africa where he was working as a Geologist. Did around 200000 miles over there I think then cam back and seems to have changed hands a couple of time before David got it.
Being an early 68 it is one of the earliest 145's over here and is probably one of the oldest surviving in Aus. Due to that I am keen to keep it showing it's life and that it isn't perfect.
I really like the rear back window divided into 2 ! Love to put them in a 92 240 wagon. The slide ones i like even better, but not very good security.
How does it runs with twin carbs? Economy?
Nice Car,it was this model that got me interested in 240's. A friend had one on LPG.
Looking good... What is the steering wheel?

Needs large skinny wheel.
Steering wheel is the late 142 gt wheel. Small to fit knees under more easily. Still not convinced it is needed so will drive for a bit and see. If I do keep it I will need to make up the bigger cowl to hide it better.
Really stoked about fitting up the Ron Starr Volvo licence plate surround too. Original dealer ftw!
It is running a bit rich at the moment. Going to dial it in over the next few weeks. I have a pair of 38 dcoe webbers to fit along with a solid overbored b20 with serious head work to fit if I get keen but keen on stockishness.
Very much so :-D
Drove it to Canberra and back today and it was awesome!
a month later

Just so glad to see it used and on the road!. It is a one off. But I had 5 "one offs" so it had to go to someone I trusted would love it.
Feel good.
Thanks

I know some ex Star employees who would be stoked to see that before they move on....
What year did volvo first have the retractable seat belts? Looking at the non retractable reminded me of my dads old holden. Cars had a certain smell from that era as well. Or maybe it was all the lucern hay he carted in it.
The 4.56 puts my 3.91 to shame. I'm curious to know how many RPM it would do at 100kph in my car. I get to 100kph at around 3200 RPM :)
