I have a 1998 v70 automatic and want to change the selector lever knob over to wood style one I have, have been told to grip it and pull it off, but is there a proper way. roger dodger.

Do you have a sunroof? If so, open it and stick your head out, straddle the lever and pull! That's how I got mine off to replace the shifter button.
