Hi guys I have recently started pissing oil out of my auto(I think).
One morning I was revering out of the carport and noticed a big puddle of oil on the ground. So I just parked it up and been driving my other car since.
I'm guessing its gearbox oil. It has lost about 2L and its not from the motor thats still bang on the dip stick. And seems to coming out of the back of the gear box where the hard line runs to the rad. IV cheched all them for tightness. All sump bolts and drain plug.
I haven't checked the gearbox oil leavel because I don't want to drive it to warm the oil if it it has no in it.
I have another auto hear but I'm unsure of the condition. Easy to swap in?
Any suggestions?

transmission fluid in ours is dextron3 (dexIII) which is red.
it could be that a hose has come loose, or broken, the pan gasket has failed.
you can check the oil, cold as its when ever the car is running its pumping fluid through out the transmission even when in park.
best to check the fluid level. (you will have a cold and a hot level indicator)

Yep it looks red. I only just changed the engine oil so I was hoping it wasn't a rear main seal.
Thats good to no! Ill check that soon. Never had an auto befor so I had a quick look in the Haynes and that said to warm it up.

Only need to start it and engage reverse then drive and have it in neutral and check the level.

warm is ideal as like most fluids it expands under temperature.
how ever if its just to work out if you have fluid or not. its not really much of an issue

I didn't get around to it last night. I'll check it tonight.

I reckon I saw somewhere mark (I think) did it for 100 bucks in melbs. Or something like that.
If I fill it up it will be right to drive just looses it over the week.

it will be fine to drive just keep an eye on the level. then just track down a decent trans. AW71L should do the trick
