Angus242164 I'm looking for a 164 clutch master cylinder and reservoir. Doesn't need to be in usable condition as it'll be rebuilt and sleeved, anything will do as long as the piston isn't seized. I'm happy to pay a reasonable price or to do a trade for other parts.
Angus242164 The only pic I can find anywhere on the web is of @Rob 's engine bay: http://realm.net.au/gallery/var/albums/Cars/Volvo/Supercharged-164E/photo4_zps8359ccf7.jpg?m=1390626523 Perhaps there's a chance he could take a close up pic of the beast and upload it? Otherwise I'll go through some manuals and see if I can find a pic to scan.
Major Ledfoot The master cylinder (from mid-1970 on) is p/n 687465-5 - pictures in Group 4, Page 11 of the 164 parts manual. CVI has reconditioning kits available, but no master cylinders at present. The only other place i could find them were at some Euro parts webstore at about 160 Euros each. Ouch. partsale.eu/volvo-687465-11137835
Angus242164 Thanks for going to all that effort guys, interesting that it's also listed as fitting dual control 140's! That would be an interesting and rare vehicle. I'm thinking that if it's going to be impossible to find one, as it was 10 years ago when I first converted the car to manual, then I'll stick with the 240 master cylinder, and come up with a neater remote reservoir setup that what I've currently got.
Major Ledfoot Heh, this popped up when I was looking for something else - Google must be cookie-snooping! ;) ebay.com.au/itm/MASTER-CYLINDER-Volvo-140-160-etc-Clutch-Brake-New-/390259048379
Vee_Que It looks very similar to a 122 brake master cylinder, which is also similar to trailer brake units.... If that helps?
Angus242164 As others have said the listing is nothing like an original 164 one, that's what we call a 3/4" trailer master at work, originally used on everything from MG's to Rolls Royce's, and fitted to hundreds of thousands of trailers. If the bolt spacing is the same as the 240 one I'm using now, it should work nicely, with a modified 240 pushrod and a braided hose with a banjo fitting on the end.
Major Ledfoot Rob;42353 wrotethat master cylinder is wrong, it doesn't look like that. Sorry 'bout that. But good to know.
