Just trying to tidy up the electrics on my 77 264GL and need some switches, console and dash, examples include rear demist, hazard, power window, seat belt light.
Consider anything as I'll try and rebuild some of mine and internals/ones that half work will provide good base of spares.
Thanks

I've got rear demist, hazard and seatbelt light to suit your car,in good condition for $5 each. Not sure about the power window switches, I can check.
I have a good console for $25 plus post.

I just grabbed this out of one of my parts cars, it's spotless apart from the piece missing around the RH lower screw hole:

Hi Angus, all looks good, console and switches. Do you have ash tray? Power window switches? It won't matter if the window switches are later as long as they work. Let's work towards a total plus shipping. Also chasing any photos or idea of the correct wiring set up in behind the console, I wanted to get my seat belt flasher working, I think it's disconnected. Cheers Greg

Hi Greg, the ashtray from that particular car has been sold, but I do have another one, I'll dig it out. Same goes for the cig. lighter if you need that, and the seatbelt flasher lens.
I don't know if I have any early power window switches left at all, will check, if I do they're be in pretty poor shape though, I ran out of good ones long ago. I have plenty of later switches and 700 series ones, but they all go in the armrests so they mount differently, and the pins are different.
The wiring behind the console for the flasher is very simple, it's just a bulb socket with two wires that come from the main harness. If the bulb is missing or blown, the system won't work at all, so that's the first thing to check. The socket is black, I think one of the wires to it may be yellow.
The switch under the passenger seat was never a great design, they often break or become detached from the seat, so check that as well. I should have one if needed.

Hi Angus, what ever switches you have I'll be happy to grab, one of mine is kaput, so I'll try and make something work, even if it is to simply put the glass up. My ciggy lighter is ok but the ashtray is deformed, the old guy loved a cigar! I'll check that bulb tomorrow!

No worries, I'll get the ash tray out tonight, and see if I can find any window switches. Stay tuned!

I got the ashtray out, the plastic is in perfect shape, though the inside of the tray is a bit dirty and needs cleaning.
No luck on power window switches, I have nothing left at all. I also have no early seatbelt light lenses, only later ones with a picture rather than text.
Send me a PM when you're ready and I'll work out a total with postage.

Hi Angus,
I'll PM you with the parts request for this week. Is there some damage to the mounting screw hole on the console? No problems if not as I can use a bigger washer.
Cheers
Greg

Anyone else got the switches like angus has? I hate the boring switches in the 240 and was hoping i could replace them with the full colored plastic ones from a 164. Thanks!
Angus242164
I've got more of the early 240 switches, I have all the common ones eg: demist, hazard, AC, rear wipe/wash for wagons etc, not many of the rarer ones left though.
Rob
I have a bunch of the green ones and black ones, demist, fog lights, rear wiper etc. hazard, AC, electric windows, elec antenna.
I have 1 each of the rare purple and orange switches in my 164, but I'm not parting with those.

Check out this listing of some of the switches that were available:

This is a rare one I used to own:
I was going to keep it but a guy from the US made me an offer that I couldn't turn down, so I sold it.

I have this one but it is blank??
and this one
I want these 2 now that I know they exist.

Nice switches, I don't quite get why the need to isolate the radio/cassette? And what are the Dist Lights? Instruments light switch for blacking out dash lights? Used in police Q cars? The plain red looks like a hazard?

I have a green fog light switch , fancy

The radio/casette one is an oddity, I guess it was used with some stereo from the early days of casettes before the radio and casette player were intergrated into the one unit. I can only assume it was to switch the two sound sources to the speakers somehow.
The plain orange (very rare) and plain purple (not too rare) were generic accessory switches you could buy from dealers, to allow you to install aftermarket accessories to your Volvo and keep your dash looking neat and genuine.
I'm guessing the Dist. lights might be distance lights or something like that, probably from an ambulance.
The green fog light switches mostly came from 164's.
