It probably comes down to driving style more than anything else, I reckon I could probably keep one alive in a 200-250hp car if it was always driven carefully, but where's the fun in having all that power if you aren't going to give the car a hard time!
It's not so much the actual power the engine is making that matters, it's how quickly the torque is applied to the box, it's the sudden input of torque that shears shafts and rips teeth off gears. Applying it in a more gradual fashion won't do any short term damage.

15 psi doesn't mean much if it's on a small turbo. Or if it's a t4 turbo and doesn't make boost till 4000rpm...
The aw71 box will handle up to 250hp easily when freshly built. One that has done 200, 000km then goes on a higher power car will go bang fast. Or work but not be fast.

We will convert your car if you want? Volvo specialist in Mitcham and give you warranty on replacement transmission
Angus242164
Warranty on a stock trans being fitted behind a highly modified engine? That's ballsy.
iceton1975
Yep one month as you know you can swop an automatic transmission in one hour EASY!
Vee_Que
2 hours with a new filter and accumulator mod each time. How annoying to change a box each month even if it's free.
Angus242164
Especially annoying for the supplier of the free transmissions and the free labour I imagine.

AW71L with mods should hold 250RWKW without blinking

When you have over 70 autos in stock and sell them with warranty who cares

If it was me. It's more the down time that would both frustrate me. Every 3 or so weeks
iceton1975
Of course there has to be a limit, if someone is driving the tranny beyond its means, and these trans can be changed in 45 minutes if your quick seen it done!

Including shift mod or high pressure?
It wouldn't be the down time at the shop, it would be the "I'm stuck in the assent of nowhere"

Time spent doing warranty work = time that can't be used to bring money into the business.
The hoist is unusable for other jobs, same for the mechanic doing the work, but his wages still need to be paid.
It would have taken time to test and remove the replacement auto from a wreck at some stage in the past as well, so the business is getting no return on the time that took, and the wages that were taken up there.
Who pays for the car to be towed to the workshop each time?
Who pays for the new trans fluid each time a new auto is fitted?
For these reasons, most warranties only apply when the parts are being used for their intended application, eg: the auto is fitted behind a stock engine.

I can sell it without a warranty if it makes you all happy, of course there is the FINE print at the time of sale as you say in the above

Either way. Given a quote for a rebuilt aw71L auto with extra clutches in 3rd gear with a rebuilt high stall converter. Which will last behind his motor making the current power that's being made.
