perko My 245 has been having little electrical niggles for a while now and they've finally annoyed me enough to try and do something about. -Wipers won't stop once you start them (though sometimes they do). Luckily the previous owner installed a master switch for them so it's not too bad. I pulled the cover off the motor and adjusted the little tab thing but that didn't help at all -Random tach. Sometimes (most often in the rain) the tach will decide that actually telling what the engine is doing is too mainstream and aimlessly bounce around for a little while -Indicator lights on the dash light up when selecting reverse -Sporadic stereo sound (sometimes the passenger speaker works, sometimes it doesn't), also radio cuts out entirely for a half second over bumps sometimes My best guess is that all these things share a common earth and that said earth is not connected very well, however after much lying on my back in the footwell today i couldn't see where this earth is, does anyone know where it is or have any other ideas?
Ex850R Rewire. Buy a new loom from USA and swap. It will be hard but constant niggles will be harder in long run. Damn 80s 240 i had was a shocker and dangerous without taillights half the time. My 245 was way better funnily enough. Maybe 1978 cars were better built!?
perko the wiring harness in the early 80's cars was notoriously dodgy, but mine has had one of the new US looms fitted at some point, honestly most of these are small niggles and i've driven it like this for the last 12 months so it doesn't bother me enough to rewire the whole car
jamesinc perko;41038 wroteyeah, does anyone know where the dash grounds too? The metallic backplate of the dashpad grounds to the body via the bolts in the door frames, and by the centre dash supports, which are bolted to the transmission tunnel.
