Rallybomb Hi All, I've just found out about this Forum through Turbo Bricks. John AKA Redwood Chair sent me here and said to look out for the Bruce thread but I cannot see a search button on this site and havn't found the thread? John has told me there is a Squirter mod kit in OZ that I may be able to loan if I can track it down. I blew up my 87 turbo bottom end and am restoring a 92 N/A bottom end to build a high compression turbo and see how it goes. For those who don't know the squirter mod kit is for drilling accurate holes through to the oil gallery in the bottom of the block to enable fitting oil squiters under the pistons. Thesquitrers were standard in later turbo volvos to stop piston slap and to cool the pistons. My block is stripped and ready for modding so I can be quick in using the kit if it is available to loan. Does anyone have a lead? Thank You!! Paul
Ex850R Welcome Paul. We are all 'Bruce's ' here. The monthly thread ( like the one that may or may not be on TB any more ) is the one pertaining to Janus for January. Best way to search is google I believe with Ozvolvo in the query. But yeah , someone has one. L.
Rob Welcome @Rallybomb This is the thread you are looking for... http://ozvolvo.org/discussion/comment/37872/#Comment_37872
AshDVS Are you talking about the one that JohnV sends around the place. You shouldn't need a 'kit' - a decent machine shop will be able to do it and you can supply them with the squirters. If you're having some machining done anyway, you may as well have them do it.
Rallybomb Thanks all. I thought I could avoid a machine shop but I just measured up the pistons and they are completely wonky. I will need a rebore now and new pistons and I am in now in the world of how far do I go. For an extra couple of hundred bucks I can get nice high compression wave guided pistons. And then for a couple hundred more can have the crank shaft balanced to the new pistons.
