Hey guys!

So finally after almost 2 weeks, mums forever car is finally in our driveway.

As some of you may know, its a late 2005 (model year 2006) XC70, Lifestyle Edition. It has pretty much everything on it. Everything mum wanted anyway, plus a bit more. It's dark blue with a taupe interior. Mum wanted a red one but she also loves the blue. The interior is like new, not a mark to be found. It has only done 68,300 kilometers. So if my 97 with 230 on it is a baby, then this thing hasn't even being conceived yet. I'm madly in love with the newer headlight and tail-light design, and the silver roof racks, so I've officially decided that one day I'll retrofit those, but anyway, this is about mums car.

So this is going to be her forever car. She paid the full price for it but we dont even care. It's going into Berry Motor Group with my '97 for a roadworthy this Monday, it should sail through, and then it will be registered basically sometime in early January.

The thing drives amazing, I've had a short drive, it's very smooth, I'm so so jealous that when you actually select reverse or drive on the shifter, it goes straight in, in my car its a 45 minute wait and then a big clunk. Mum's idle does seem a little lower than mine though and the engine feels like it should be idling higher. I'm sure its nothing.

Cosmetically its pretty much perfect bar a minor scratch on the rear drivers side door. Nothing a good touch up couldn't fix.

Anyway, we're absolutely in love with it, and pleased to welcome it to the (seemingly ever-growing) Volvo family.

Here's some pics of the thing. It's oh so beautiful :)

I'm so jealous. It's so smooth in comparison to mine!
Hers or mine? Mine will be off the road in about two weeks, provided that my 97 passes roadworthy easily and gets registered when we aim for. And then once that's done, the 97 will get no attention whatsoever and focus will shift onto my XC. Probably going to bite the bullet, save up and get a new valve body. As for mums, we cant wait to drive it, its so nice!
How do you take such good pictures?? mine always come out looking shit but those look really classy :)

I would say the nice new Nikon DSLR but if you play with the manual settings on your phone you can achieve better results.
Practice and getting an eye for good composition helps , even then it takes lots of shots.
Timing belt water pump and pcv now
Trans flush as well
Software update via service 2.0 at a Volvo dealer

I have an iPhone 4S, it would never ever produce results this good, plus its all fully auto anyway.

LMAO how rich do you think we are.

Dont worry they'll all get done but not straight off the bat, should all be done by hopefully this time next year. I know the transmission is getting done when the tow-bar goes on it.
Yeah , ipons are crap...
Yeah its not so great for lots of things but everything else I own is Apple so its just easier hahaha
Just given a 4s from Brother , perfect condition , to give to Daughter for first phone. The last iPon I had was a 3s. This thing is funny and infuriating.
Base android any day for me.
I to have a few imacs and a macbook , mostly fine but Appil are getting way too big for their boots designing stuff you can't fix yourself anymore , I like to tinker!

timing belt wp and pcv are under 450 to do yourself
Transflush is 150 diy
2.0 is a volvo only thing though and might be the most expensive
Yeah we're not doing anything ourselves to this car. Everything will get done at Berry. We may here back about the timing belt today, whether it needs to be done or not. I might do the PCV as its relatively straightforward but I failed on the belt on the 97 so I aint going anywhere near this one haha. Plus it has variable valve timing on both camshafts which sounds like a nightmare
I know that when mum fits the tow hitch she is also fitting a transmission cooler, so we will likely get the trans flushed as well when we do that. I didnt know we had to update the software for the later models but now that I do, I'll tell mum.
Jay, those pics are nothing short of fantastic.
Transmission cooler hurts more then it helps most of the time with these cars
Running the ac is the secret to keeping the trans cool
How does an extra cooler hurt ?
Surely switching to an external trans cooler over the internal one is better? Even just to make trans oil changes a doddle.
