I was going to add more foam to tighten the velour, and make it look like it did from new. I'm going to glue sheet foam to the existing foam. I'm going to do a bit shaping too, just to try and add a bit more bolstering to the front seats.
I'm also going to fit heated seats in the front seats.
S80 heated seat elements:
The only 240 cruise control I've seen in Australia is the early type, with the vacuum module that pulls a cable and the cable pulled on the spool, I think it used manifold vacuum.
used up to '85. That system is designed to fit the K-jet manifold. It might be good for k-jet cars but it seems very problematic.
I think there was a system offered in the US, and maybe else where, that had a vacuum diaphragm under the dash connected the accelerator pedal. I've never seen that system in Australia, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't offered here.
I haven't seen an LH 240 in Australia with cruise control, but they did offer cruise control for 740s with LH injection.
That system has a vacuum diaphragm on the manifold with a cable attached, the cable pulls on the throttle spool when you apply vacuum to the diaphragm. and the system has a vacuum pump controlled by the system computer.
This system seems very good, and can be fitted to 240s with a bit of work.
the spool and vacuum diaphragm bolt straight on to the manifold. you will have to find somewhere under the dash for the computer, and find somewhere in the engine bay for the vacuum pump. and do a few small modifications to the loom. the other thing is you will need to get the 740 computer to work with the 240 stalk, they both have 4 wires, and they both do the same things on the 240 and the 740 stalk but the wire colours are different, so you will need to know which wires on the 240 stalk connect to which wires on the 740 loom. This is easy to figure out with a multimeter and a 240 and 740 stalk.
I have this set up in my 240 now, but it's not finished yet, I still have to make an adaptor from the 740 loom to the 240 stalk, which is pretty easy, but I went to test the functions from the 240 stalk and most of them don't work. it seems the stalk is stuffed, or just full of corrosion or something.
Once I know what wires connect to the 240 stalk I'm happy to tell anyone who is doing the same.
I'll also post pics on here.
