asiandriver Has anyone heard of interchangeability between LH2.2 and Motronic 1.8 MAF sensor? I bought a 95 model 960 recently which has Motronic 1.8 fuel injection system and was shocked to find that it has a LH2.2 MAF fitted to it, which came from a late model 760. Surprisingly, the ECU hasn't recorded any DTC & I personally haven't noticed any driveability issues. I haven't checked the signal values for both types of MAF, the most obvious difference though is that LH2.2 MAF has a big CO adjustment screw on it while Motronic 1.8 MAF doesn't.
Philia_Bear They should be different Moronic on the 960 happily ignores the maf most of the time though
Ex850R If it ignores the MAF then is it running on a set map that isn't ideal for power and economy? I know I could run my '96 855R with it disconnected quite OK but didn't check figures.
asiandriver The only thing I've noticed on my 960 is that the exhaust temp. warning lamp on the dash stays on. Exhaust temp. warning lamp is only found on Japanese imports & comes on when cat. converter exceeds 850 degrees Celsius. I wonder if this might be caused by wrong fuel ratio from wrong MAF sensor, will get a proper Motronic 1.8 MAF & try it later today.
asiandriver OK I've fitted a proper Motronic 1.8 MAF sensor (Bosch number ending in 025) and now it runs worse?? This is baffling me. With the Motronic 1.8 MAF the engine idle speed is erratic for the first 3-5 seconds, RPM goes up then drops down so low the engine nearly stalls, before it recovers but still hunts + - 50 rpm. This didn't happen when it had the 760's LH2.2 MAF (Bosch number ending in 006). I would've thought the high exhaust temp. is caused by a lean mixture. On piston engine aircraft where the mixture is manually controlled by the pilot, high exhaust temp. is rectified by enriching the fuel mixture as the extra fuel cools the cylinder head. Unless cars are different...
Vee_Que Petrol engines that's how that works Yep. High temp due to blocked cat due to a too cold mixture clogging the cat then overheating is what I'm getting at. They don't clear out after that. Just stay blocked and restrict exhaust flow out.
asiandriver OldnDecrepit;37070 wroteWill, did you buy that red one I posted about for $900? No this 960 is a blue wagon, another Jap import!
