Scrap that she definitely wants an XC and an XC only haha. We also like the green colours, mistral green and whats the other one called? The dark green? I think its Emerald?

Mum really likes this one:

Thinking of just over-doing her budget and getting something newer with almost no kilometres on it.
Only problem is its in the Blue Mountains and were in Melbourne and we cant get up there until next week at the absolute earliest.
Any Sydney-goers keen to help us out?

Just ask to see the volvo servicing history
There are no dealers up in the mountains so is highly possible it's never been back to volvo since it was bought
Look for wet carpet and for any hints of ferrell infestations
Otherwise don't pay more then 10k and seams good value

thats a fair point, hopefully they took it to a semi decent mechanic at the very least, some kind of service history is better than none right?
we cant look haha, wrong state
do you reckon we can drop it down to 10? we dont need the nsw rego on it, but we are thinking instead of the rego on it, asking for them to drop it onto a truck and get it down here instead, similar value i would think

it does say full volvo service history bar one where it was done somewhere else, so thats no biggy, we can just ask them to photocopy the recent stuff and send it through, would it need a timing belt by now? Its 9 years old and it hasnt gotten near the mileage for it yet but it might need doing in age now? we will check if it has been done
Philia_Bear
Timing belt is 6years or mileage so it's overdue if not done
If it's not been to volvo it's Not had software done and that's more important than anything else
jaykenneally
its been to volvo all of its life except for the last service so most of the routine services should be done, maybe we can ask them to fax through all copies of service history. The history doesnt show the belt change though it just shows it got serviced so we'd have to ask about that. I told mum to call them when they open and see what they can do for us

Low km's on a car in the country is something I'd personally be weary of, they should be driving longer distances, if the car hasn't been serviced at least every year if not every 6 months, considering how little it travels on average every few years, I'd be weary.... Budget for a full service, belts, all oil changes, transmission upgrades etc.
jaykenneally
Service history shows roughly once per year servicing, every 10,000 kilometers, i think its still a safe bet, we'll be taking it Berry for a good once-over if we get it

A truck back to melbourne would cost under $500, but you could very easily get a flight then train to pick it up and drive it back?
jaykenneally
we did consider flying up and driving it back, its about the same cost as getting it towed, so i think we will just get it towed back, saves the car, saves our effort. The dealer says if we're not happy with it we are allowed to put it back on the truck and send it back so thats kind of good
Vee_Que
Offer ten, they will take it as they know the market is a bit weak for used cars. You can buy the model after for 20k if not less.
jaykenneally
well two things, we dont want the model after and we dont have 20k, were happy with 13 but we'll see where they budge
jaykenneally
we bought it :')

Excellent!

Its gonna go on a truck and be on its way here. Mums ecstatic we cant wait. It was slightly out of our budget but we think it was well worth it. Cant wait til its here

Congrats!
With the run of back luck on your wagons - hopefully this one will be a pearler.
Remember, if something goes wrong it's your Mum who'll be stranded!
jaykenneally
Eh both my wagons seem to be alright, the XC only broke down on me once haha, and I havent driven the '97 enough to know yet :P
But we have a good feeling about this one!
Vee_Que
Racv total care covers everything in regards to towing ;)
jaykenneally
Yeah Im sure we'll have that, had it on my car and it came in very handy when it decided to spit all of its oil out in the middle of Templestowe haha
