We put new tyres on two of the Virgos we got from @Ex850R. The other two have cosmetic damage - one has had its lip filed to remove gutter rash, but hasn't been repainted, and the other has a flat spot. I got a quote of $160 to have the flat spot removed, and then I went to VG and had the paint matched. While I was there I also picked up some polar white, so we have paint to do Billie's bonnet and boot, and possibly the replacement quarter panel (it's a slightly different shade of white). The issue now is that the ambient temps have dropped a bit much, so I'll have to get the turbine heater out, but we are STILL blacked out from the storms (3 days now), so everything is on hold.

As far as I can see in their terms, I can't make a claim for outages caused by severe weather.

Eh, realistically it's cost me maybe 30 bucks in perishables. The freezer still has frost in it after 3 days!! Quality freezer.

I've been painting. Nina's bonnet was atrocious. see sanding output below. Had to go back to metal in a number of places!

That fog is vapour in the air. I'm using a respirator. It's not ideal, but I have to keep the garage quite closed up. I have a turbine heater a few meters away keeping the garage warm enough to paint. In between coats I open the garage up a bit and let as much clean air in as I can.

Well I ended up doing 4 coats with 800ml of paint at 30psi. We also intend to do the boot lid as it is also very pockmarked and damaged, but that will wait until next weekend. My gas bottle (for the turbine heater) ran out so I have to swap that too.

Nina also wants to do the quarter panel that we put on as its a different shade of white, but it may be a while before we get around to that one as I would want to patch the holes at the bottom, aft of the wheel arch (where on newer 240s there's a big black trim strip).

Between 22 and 25 I smoked close to a pack of cigarettes a day, which came out at around $4000/year.

So my car budget is about $300/month and I still spend less! :)

Unrelated, we took Billie down to Kangaroo Valley on the weekend (I also scoped out the national meet location while I was down there, and it is absolutely mint).

Billie drove well but was low on power and had a bit of knock. Back in Sydney the timing light revealed +20° advance. I dialled it back to 13° and the car is now making much more power and the knock has gone.

I'm really unsure how it was set to 20°. Perhaps I simply misread the markings the first time I set it!

My B23E is set to around 20°, and it does ping at lower altitudes under load at lower revs. It seems to make more power that way though.
