powder_hound Billie was a tribute to my teenage Green Day years. They were hugely influential in my life so I named him/her after Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day. But yes, I do like the idea of cars being gender neutral :) While it's a tradition for cars to generally have female names, I'm a fan of breaking from tradition. And Ryan - it's my car. Shhhhhhh.
jamesinc I am deleting the EGR system from Nina's car at the moment. Anyone know what size thread goes into the inlet manifold from the EGR valve thingo, so that I can order the appropriate bung?
powder_hound Engine out. James also started removing the EGR system because apparently the idea of a 240 EGR system being in his garage is offensive.
jamesinc Philia_Bear;39753 wrotePic? I thought the inlet was a flat flange with a paper gasket? Um I took it out already. Basically it's a fitting above the throttle body that goes to a hardline that goes to the EGR valve.
Dauntless Here are some pics from the last EGR and Pulse Air delete I did, hopefully they're helpful to you. Small fitting replaced with a plug, larger fittings welded up, and the old 5c coin trick.
jamesinc I've done the $0.05 coin trick already. I might go to the bolt shop and try to find appropriate bungs. Also, Nina has been wondering how people do car stuff without being very strong. As I am unreasonably* strong, I'm not sure, but I assume more extensive use of breaker bars and WD-40? (* My party trick is to put the engine stand bracket onto the back of a B23, then just pick it up and place it on the stand :) )

Dauntless The intake and exhaust side EGR fittings are the same. My local bolt shop couldn't even order plugs or bolts with the correct size and thread, that's why I had them welded. The 5c coins work perfectly as a permanent solution. My red 244 has done over 100,000km on them with no issues. What are you having trouble removing?
