Hello all
New to group, Went over the road 4 weeks ago to help neighbor get her hard rubbish out and finished of buying her Volvo.
Car had been sitting for about six years, charged battery put fuel in and drove it home.( across the road.) I have been reading though the forum and yes the head light wipers work on the washing circuit and complement the car. The car is in great condition for age but needs a few parts and work my plan is to get it on club plates
I have been looking around for similar cars and have been given two 240 gle wagons and one 240 sadan I can get parts of. but hey are have all the wrong parts.
What works
Motor runs well but fuel pump under passenger seat noisy maybe in tank pump not working.? V6 fuel injected.
Sunroof works
central locking works
Power windows work
volvo stero system works
climate control
odometer
most things work.
What works some times
taco
fuel gauge
temp gauge
day lights ( driving lights come on with daylights and go out with head lights.)?
seat belt warning signal.
What it needs
It seems very soft to me and may need shocker and springs.
the wiring loom in the motor was shot, not sure how it ran. I have replaced most of this wiring.
front indicator/driving lights need replacing.
No rust but paint on roof boot and bonnet needs work.
Arm broken on drivers side head light whiper. ( ok they almost work.)

Welcome to the forum.
My experience with a car that hasn't been used a lot was to run it as much as possible. I found that some of the electrical issues on my 1990 740 GLE disappeared with use. Some of course won't (my fuel gauge still doesn't work properly) but try running the car even if you don't have it on the road.

Welcome. The cars have two fuel pumps. One underneath the passenger seat area and one in tank. The fuel filter is in a similar spot. For the tacho the signal wire I think is in the distributor check there first of course. I have to tap my dash to get my fuel gauge to work at times too
