I was dithering about getting a respray, reason why I decided to get a respray is as follows
-very thin paint, particularly on edges and creases (many areas won't take another polish). Factory primer is blue and is very obvious. In fact on the guards you can just see the blue primer coming through.
- paint integrity - RHR door paint has shrunk leading to cracking and crazing, same on RHR 3/4. Paint in rain gutters has completely failed and is flaking away. Paint starting to crack around rubbing strip, spoiler at front flaking badly!
-rust - little bits here and there....
Now....I could go and repair each little issue with touch up aerosol, filler and primer but I reckon it'd look too patchy....thoughts?
Respray is booked in for 12 January....but obviously if I can save money all the better. But I don't want to be left with a car that looks rubbish....

If you feel that the paint is bad enough that it needs a respray, go for it! It looks good in the pics , but they're only pics.

Where are you getting the respray done? Keen to know about local and not Canberra options.

Well this weekend I'm back in Orange visiting family. Went to wreckers. Found a '79 244 in the corner with the following:
- Sunvisor clips (mine are broken)
- Set of rear seatbelts in much better condition than mine.....
- Rear seatbelt covers, parcel tray and speaker grilles complete with grille in the parcel tray - all in good condition (carpet is a bit faded on parcel tray but oh well!)
.....all for $70. I was a frequent customer when I was building my VB Commodore, so I can get good deals there.....
Respray is booked in at P & P of Cowra. Whites in Cowra didn't want to touch it with 10 foot pole.
