Well thought I'd come back and post to say I have sadly lost my Volvo, it was handed over to the insurance company the other day as it was deemed a total loss.
$6300 worth of repairs to a car insured for the lowly sum of $5000 market value will do that though.
Bugger all damage to the car, just needed two doors and a guard, full side of paint, along with the various plastics (wheel arch trims, door moulds etc) so it was parts cost that ultimately totalled the car as there was no structural damages at all.
Maybe one day I'll be back in a volvo, but there are no decent volvo's for sale in my price range at the moment.
Thanks for having me here, it's a shame I didn't find this forum earlier on in my ownership!
Cheers

Couldn't buy off insurer?
paul_t4
Probably could... It has a salvage value of $700, but honestly what would be the point? The car is deemed a write off so it can't be re- registered and these cars aren't popular enough to buy it back and sell it off as parts.

Going back to a swift?

My partner and I have two Suzuki's already, her to and from work car and my play toy, so we will be looking at cars similar to the s40, although it's a hard car to compete with at that price range for how much car you get with the Volvo

I'd buy it back for $800 for the parts if you want to make a quick $100
