  • [TAS] 1998 v70xc lowering springs

As the title says, looking for lowering springs for the wagon. Preferably cheap.
A set of STD v70 ones should be easy enough to get? Low enough?
Ahh preferably a bit lower. I was after some v70R ones but they're hard to find.
But yeah, who would be wrecking a set in melbourne of STD v70?

Won't work because V70XC is Nivomat.
I just put a pair of rears from a V70T5 in the bin. :)

Ask Rob about the problems with lowering an XC rear end , it doesn't work as it is made for a high ride. Needs some modifications or you will have crazy camber and even with v70 parts put in still no good.
You need a V70R set of rear suspension and control arms etc I reckon.
All depends how low you want to go..
Oh yeah, i just remembered.. Dem Nivomats lol. I just want to go as low as stock v70R.
Could be OK , Rob has gone much lower I think. Mark may have R parts for you.
if you want stock R height you will be ok.

For the front you will need complete R struts, everything else will be fine.

For the rear you will need R springs, upper cones, bump stops and nivomats. you can get away with using your original nivo's but will need spacers (easily done btw).

Mine is quite a bit lower than standard R height.
Not bad at all!

Now paint the strips body colour and the wheels black and i will upgrade my standing on the looks!

;-)
looks the goods.
You can just cut a coil off the rear helper springs and use longer bolts and washers to drop the rear end total spend of $15 (search nivomat foolers). The R front shocks have a lower spring seat so you need the complete strut to achieve the lower ride height (koni yellows have the lower spring seat &you can use R springs but its not a cheap option)
To get the standard XC rear end low enough you have to cut alot off the helper springs, this will introduce problems with the bump stops fouling. The XC upper cones are much longer than R cones... Cut XC springs and nivo spacers will be OK but you will need R upper cones and bump stops to make it work.

if you need help with spacer lengths or how much spring to cut off let me know.
