Thanks everyone for your tips and pointers!
In the end of the day its the sound of the 5 cylinder engine that drags me back to wanting one EVERY time
Having a RWD 240 with a 5 pot would literally be the BEST thing ever
I went to see a red 1990 240 yesterday,
136,000 kms, Clean body but a lot of rust in the rear right passenger door
The seller initially had it up for 5,000, then lowered it to 4,500, but with all that needed to be done, I wasnt prepared to jump into it just yet, But seeing as a manual conversion would cost about - $3,000 (Supra gearbox)
It would end up being a very expensive NA 240
If it was feasible to dump a 5 cylinder engine into a 240 down here in Aus, Id be all over it! (Or is it?...)
The bodyshape and cool factor of the 240 Is what i like, Plus with some handling mods they can be a srsly nice car to drive
But the howling sound of the 850r!! :((
Part of wanting a 240 is to show my E30 mates what a red Swedish brick can achieve, then kind of fell in love with them
The plan with the 240 was to convert it to a supra W55 Gearbox, Ive spoken to the folks over at Dellow and they seem to be a great bunch to deal with, but its the little things that trip me up - Clutch specs, all of the little bolts and bits (All part of it I guess) But the end result, coupled with a decent sized turbo and some 850r front seats and a black interior would amount to a VERY cool sleeper
I am very conflicted :(
