240 1992 Wagon
Tacho very rarely works ... for about a minute then fails.
Obviously no cables and is electrically powered.
Does anyone know a common problem that occurs with these? At risk of being cliched, I'm thinking a capacitor.
On the back of the tacho is:
At top 3 wires (red, green, black) that power the clock (which works)
At bottom, white/red (female spade connector) that has been attached to "12V" (RHS of two male spades)
Also, white/pink (red?) (male spade on wire, tapes over and not used)
The wiring diagram (Haynes and Bentley) is a microscopic, b&w archaic dog's breakfast. Anyone got one in colour?
Also, what's the electrical device behind the mini storage space in front of gear selector? Looks like an amp. I wanted to increase the storage space but left well enough alone...for now.
