Hello, just joined OZ Volvo. Recently bought my first Volvo, an S70, after decades of driving and DIYing Mercs ranging in age from 1970 to 2009. I have to say the Volvo is a revelation. Far superior to Mercs I have owned and worked on. I have done some catch-up maintenance and repairs (leaky front crank seal, timing belt, water pump, done by a garage), replaced the PCV system myself, brake master cylinder, along with front rotors and pads. The car runs very well, but I do have a lot of weird brake noises and an ABS light that is intermittent. When i turn left sharply under braking, there is noise from the rear that sounds like a spring has let go! Quite disconcerting. I can feel it through the brake pedal. And once or twice a similar noise happens out of nowhere. The brakes generally pull me up very well, but not confident of how they would go under hard braking. The testing i have done in hard braking scenario results in one of the front wells locking up (LHS, I think). I assume this is all ABS related, and I need to replace sensors, but am an amateur with the Volvo so any guidance would be appreciated.
