OP with the 240, just so we're covering all the bases -
Have you checked for codes from the ECU and EZ-K?
Does the little hose coming out of the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail smell of fuel, or is the FPR squirting fuel?
How long since the filter at the main fuel pump was changed?
If you've changed a dead in-tank pump, did you use the correct grade of fuel hose when replacing it? (Normal fuel hose won't last on the in-tank pump; you must use 30R10 grade, submersible type hose).
Is the main fuel pump noisy when it's operating?
What's the condition of your idle air control valve?
Have you checked the adjustment of the throttle switch on the throttle body spindle is correct?
Are there any wear holes (from rubbing against the car body) in the air intake tube between the air mass meter and the throttle body?
Are the leads in good condition? What about the dizzy cap (checking the outside for corrosion in the sockets where the leads plug in, but also wear on the underside) and the rotor button?
JFTR, the B230F LH2.4 and the B8444S have absolutely nothing in common - the latter wasn't even made in Skövde. The only thing the V8 engine has in common with any other Volvo engine is the pistons, which share the same part number as those used in some of the 5 cylinder engines.
