Bought an S60R 2004 as another retirement toy to fill in the years before dementure totally sets in and I lose my licence.
very low k's , full VOLVO stealership record , well cared for , but auto ?. At least my wife can drive it so she can drive it in "emergencies". Just like my new ute had to be auto so she could drive that too on "emergencies". First and only time she drove that in an "emergency" she took out the corner of the garage.
Dreaded AISIN box is a worry but i'm going to replace the valve body and then risk removing the torque limiter at my own peril. Its's only a toy after all.
More worrying though is finding the right tune that will give more performance without splitting the block
Maybe not worry and just enjoy thrashing it and then replace it with a T5 engine if I can find one.
D088 intercooler upgrade? Downpipe and exhaust? Shim the water jacket block walls? Chiptune?
Or maybe just leave it unmolested and immaculate like something you'd see in a Volvo museum, marking another one of Volvo's flawed attempts at building the perfect car. Not saying its a bad car but the handling even with the advanced setting just doesnt cut it and steering feels totally remote. They still haven't got that sort of stuff right , even with the sexy T8 polestar wagons they allow you to fiddle with the front shock settings under the bonnet but to adjust the adjust the rear you have to get under the car and removing bits. Some of these coming on the market now for around $70k with 30k on them. I'd welcome some thoughts on the T8 wagons if anyone has one. Love the idea of an electric motor on the back for when you need some extra grunt and love the idea of being able to toddle down to the shops in electric mode and being able to justify the 40KW of solar panels on my roof and the unused charging point at the back of my garage that my electrician installed to futureproof the house along with the 1500 metres of Cat 6A & Cat 7 cable he installed. No I dont want to buy a full Electric car. Dont want to be stuck in a queue waiting at Yass for 15 minutes just so i can charge a car. And definitely dont want to engage in polite conversation with some Tesla driving yuppie hipster.
All advice welcome, including how to spend the rest of my years before the nursing home takes me.
