What colour I should paint the geminis on my 242?

Currently in the process of getting my geminis fixed up and ready to paint... but what colour?

I plasti dipped them to look passable for our wedding photos, but satin black just seems anti climactic.

Aside from door locks, there are zero shiny bits on the outside of the car and the engine bay is turned around polished aluminium, black and various shades of grey.

Perhaps a dark satin gunmetal aka anthracite colour for the wheels?

For anyone curious on costs to refurbish geminis

$500 for 5 wheels included 4 caps

$600 to make 3 of them round again and Mag Wheel Repairs Blacktown

$450 to have them stripped clean by Redi Strip in Blacktown

$300 estimated for paint supplies to spray myself

Total $1850... ouch

A painter fellow mentioned that he prefers to paint the rim with the tyre on - (weird I initially thought).

- Why, so the tyre fitter doesn’t chip or stress the new paint.

Maybe one could let it cure for a while till it hardens to the max.

As for colour, mag wheel silver might be a bit boring compared to your superb red paint.

You could always do that thing with black and a yellow stencil on one arm, or is that too JDM/fanboi?

Forget the wheels, look at the engine bay! I was contemplating deleting some things when I pull the engine and now it's definitely happening.

Back on topic, I think you're on the right track with a gloss metallic silver or some such.

Looks great! I got these wheels powdecoated in "gunmetal grey" but sadly they look a bit brown or something. I was a bit disappointed. I think a lighter silver proper gunmetal would look great. Car looks fantastic! TBH I think with all the blackout treatment a gloss black may look great too. I've put the black wheels back on my yellow car as these just looked a bit naff on it.

I think probably a very dark titanium or gunmetal, but maybe with a flake? But something ludicrous, like an orange flake, but subtle so it just glints with an orange streak in the sunlight?

My 2c? I really like the look of the wheels in black, as they appear in the photos above.

The black wheels fit the theme of the black bumpers and front spoiler with the 82+ black upper bumper / hockey sticks trim and grille.

The orange / black scheme looks awesome.

Blacked out trim with silver looks great but the Ronal centrelocks are doing a lot of the heavy lifting there. If your wheels aren't so hot maybe darken the colour a bit.

Thanks for the feedback and validating my feelings haha it sounds like I'm on the right track with a very dark satin gunmetal sort of colour.

Been searching the internet a lot but struggling to find a image of what I have in mind. This is the closest but in satin. I think I will just need to go to the paint shop, try and pick something out, and get a sample pot to do a test with.
