I recently replaced my oil leaking turbo with an ebay special on my 06 XC90.
Symptoms prior to the turbo replacement where smoking at idle, oil leaks at inlet and exit of intercooler with high oil consumption.....more like a total loss oil system.
Tried to set ebay turbo wastegate actuator to 4psi opening but could not get it below 6.5 to 7 psi cracking pressure.
Dropped in an intermediate IPD spring in the blow off valve.
4 days of driving still smokes after idling, stinks bad but not like oil. smoke kind of dissipates like steam. Makes me think its coolant not oil although too early to tell coolant loss or not, still running a contaminated intercooler. Have a new intercooler to fit later.
Still have external oil leaks probably banjo fittings, re-used copper gaskets. Turbo oil drain line alignment wasn't the best had to have the exhaust manifold flange loose with the drain line installed then tightened down the exhaust manifold bolts to pull the drain tube down into the block (compressing the o-ring)
Have a PCV kit not fitted yet.
I fear that I have a blown gasket or cracked block,167K on this motor.
