1999 V70 Seat Belt Replacement

Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a replacement drivers seatbelt (front right) for my 99 V70 as the belt has frayed at the point where the belt comes out of the wall of the car. According to my mechanic I need to replace the entire unit as you can't just replace the belt itself.

The only place I can find a unit is on Ebay and it's based in the U.S

Would a front right 'passenger' belt from the US be a suitable replacement for my front right drivers seatbelt?

The '99 may have had different belt deployment machanism for pretension.
But Mark will have one for sure.

I am pretty certain us cars will not have ADR compliant seatbelts.

Hey, I have one. I'm on the north shore in Sydney. It came out of a '98 V70 that I am parting out at the moment.

I rebuilt mine in my C70. In those, you can replace the belt on its own, but it is very tricky – you have to basically pull it all to bits, which is not easy with the tensioner spring. At one point I had a slinky-like spring fly across the room! As such, if you can get a good belt mechanism, just replace the lot :-)
Keep in mind you are working with airbag-like tensioners (i.e. explosives). Unplug your battery before you start, and be careful!
