What options do I have to upgrade the seats in my 740?
I'm looking for something comfortable, not necessarily too sporty.
I've heard of people using 850 seats, does anyone know what's involved in the swap?
Thanks!

@vee_que is the man to ask as he has done it.

Yes. I have. I think the photos are on my thread or if not, on my facebook page, disintegrator performance. I could modify rails and send them up to you if you want for a cost that are ready to match up to the four mounting points of the 850/s/v70 seat bases.

Thanks, I had a look.
Would it be possible to get some more pics of the modified rails, from other angles? It looks like you've welded on some flatbar?
How is the seat height and adjustment range vs stock? I need to have the stock seats all the way back and also run out of head room.

Need to make a drop bracket as much as the floor can handle in that case although Alex is rather tall!!
Without the seat adjustable lift thats part of the x70/P80 base could do something for you too?
Made a lovelly staino folded form seat adapter for my Alfasud years ago , put in a Renault Fuego seat , wow was that comfy and supportive all at once , wish i kept the spare one i had!

Call me and I can explain it better how I did it. Sick of image servers. You can get more length in it as the base length is shorter than a 740. Height, the seat now goes to the top of my shoulders and the head rest is higher but the floor doesn't allow any more height in it.

Sorry to be a pain, but would it be possible to email me some photos? When I finally get around to doing the work I won't remember anything you've said.
Does the conversion leave you sitting higher, lower, or at the same height as the stock seats?
Ex850R
Mmm , I imagine the floor is complex in that car , I will look at my R seats I have out and see what can be removed to lower it.
Alex , do you use the 740 or the 850 slides etc in your conversion?

It uses all 850 parts except where the tangs are cut that go through the aluminum slides that are replaced with steel. I've made a jig up so I can do it pretty quickly.
The height is marginally lower but the seat padding is taller. So it ends up the same height for me and my weight. But its a more comfortable and supportive seat. I recommend it just to have better condition front seats.

It certainly sounds like something I'm interested in. Looks like you use 2.5mm flatbar for the mounts?
