Hi all,

I'm looking to do a manual swap on my 94 850 t5 and have seen things about fitting the M66 transmission. Since this is found in xr5 turbos I figured it would be easier to find and cheaper.

I've seen that people have done it on their 850s, but would it require special transmission mounts and other modifications to make it fit?

Thanks in advance

There are about 4 versions of FWD M66 boxes

P1 Volvos (S40/C30 etc) and Mondeo XR5 have the same gearing.

S60R and Focus XR5 are geared differently to the above.

I think there's a couple of other minor differences.

You can probably choose any of them but just be aware of the differences to make sure it fits and you get the gearing you want.

I think most of the details about it are captured in this thread, unless you've already seen it and are looking for more detail?

Thought i'd post this , been watching for a while now , and with the recent talk of the focus 6 speed box

The XR5 Focus is the best box to use. You're still better off having a donor car for the manual conversion pieces. The only difference you'll need to do on a 94 is wire in the speed sensor that is located on your difference into the LHF ABS sensor.

Even if you don't have Facebook, you can still search Volv of Adelaide and see some stuff there.
