Mini1964 Hi. I'm in the middle of replacing the shifter bushings in the M46 manual. The wasn't a circlip retaining the top bush. Does anyone know the size, so I can grab one from the bolt shop? I don't want to have to pull it apart again in a week, if ordering from the states. Thanks a bunch.
Mini1964 Hi Ramrod. Not accurately. Bummer. It must be the reason it's so loosely goosey. On another note do you know which way the shifter bottom bushings go, the two little ones. The new ones have an o ring on one but not the other.
jamesinc If you have a shifter bushing, measure the OD of that and you will be very close to the ID of the bore they sit in and then you can size a circlip based on that measurement.
Mini1964 Thank James and Ramrod.I took the old bushing to the local hydraulics suppliers, Marrison Hydraulics. They found a circlip to fit straight away. The car is back on the road and the shifting is awesome. ? Next job is suspension.
Mini1964 Hi James. I took the old top bush, 37mm dia, to the Hydraulics fitters and they sized it from that. So it will be 37mm. Thanks again for your help. I highly recommend the bronze shifter bushing kit, it is an amazing improvement.
