I am looking at buying a 1998-2002 C70 Coupé but I'm not sure what models were sold. The Road Vehicle Certification System (RVCS) shows just one model of C70 Coupé, the C70 Turbo 2 door sedan with the B5234T3 engine. RVCS detail on that model is available here: http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/perl/11796_226535_FORS3630.cmd.
RedBook show a lot more models. For example, for 2001 Coupés, they show a C70 base model, a C70 T, and a C70 T5. According to RedBook, the C70 T had the B5244T engine while the C70 T5 had the B5234T engine. Cars Guide have basically the same data as RedBook.
Usually, the RVCS shows all the marketed engine types for each model. For example, it shows three engines for the C70 Convertible. But, for the Coupé, RVCS only shows the B5234T3 engine – there is no detail on the “C70 T” or a "base model". I’m left wondering which of the RVCS or RedBook is correct.
I sent a message to Volvo Cars Australia who could not help:
"I'm afraid we only have records of vehicles launched and offered in Australia that date as far back as 2008. I am unable to provide information on models prior to this date as Volvo Car Australia was part of a separate motoring group at that time. "
I've looked in the Web Archive for the old Volvo Australia web site but, all the snapshots from 2001-2004 were timed out.
I'd like to also find out which years/models were sold with the "Sports suspension" or SC-901 "Dolby Surround Pro Logic" audio and other features which might have been standard or options.
So, does anyone have copies of any brochures, price lists or pamphlets in the 1998-2002 C70 coupé ?
Thanks.
