Hi everyone

i have an Volvo 242 1976 with a single zenith stromberg 175 cd-2 carburettor

1question: if I want a open air filter, which one would you guys recommend

2question: would give extra power if I put another carb on. So 2- zenithstromberg carbs on -with an intake manifold that allows to carbs

8 and 16V single and dual Solex carbs, Canada.

I'm considering getting some.

NONO

Do not modify the standard system. It works perfectly fine as Volvo intended.

Do however service the 47 year old components of the engine.

They are old, and so is pretty much everything else to do with the car.

For starters, change all of the fluids and filters. Change the spark plugs. Replace anything which you feel is more than 10 years old.

After doing the above, you would be suprised how much more powerful the engine will feel

Hi snoopy

i have a lot of solex carbs

I use them for boat engines, like AQ-130 and so on

i have heard that the solex carbs are better for boat engines than zenith

but also that zenith is better for car engines

not sure if it’s right but!

Can always get a dual weber and manifold kit off ebay.....

I don't know about carbs but wouldn't it just be the jetting that's different BTW boat and car, allowing for the way it's used?

Does seem like a lot of extra tuning though. I'm leaning onwards fuel injection upgrade instead.....
