Hi All,

I thought I’d introduce myself.

I’m Josh, based in WA and have recently acquired a 2010 S40 T5 AWD (auto- booooo).

My brief was to find a tidy and well cared for car that I could put the kid seats in, but still put a smile on my face. I’ve had an eclectic motoring journey so far, from an 90 ford laser, to a Datsun 1800, gc8 sti, 01 fireblade, VY clubsport and various others in between.

I always loved my mates xr5 turbo, but I just couldn’t get the mrs on board with one of them.

Some searching later and this example fit the bill. Truth be told I wasn’t looking for a “unicorn”, the majority of the previous cars I’ve owned have been manual and so I’m ready for some automatic relaxation…

My plans are fairly modest:

intake- do88/BSR

cbv- GFB dvx

3in downpipe decat

Hilton Tune to suit

I’m having a lot of trouble sourcing a downpipe to suit the AWD at a reasonable price.

postage from Europe and US is cost prohibitive and the only one I’ve found from an Aus supplier is circa $2k which I find offensive.

I’ve rung around some local exhaust shops to see if custom is an option- 3 of the 5 haven’t wanted the work and the other two don’t seem overly keen.

Does anyone have any advice? Is there anywhere in Aus I can source a “bolt

on” option at a reasonable price?

Apparently the xr5 DP can be fitted with a wriggle n tap.

The usual wreckers, Berry Motor Group, Voldat,Swedish Wreckers may be helpful.

Mark at Berry's knows where all the good stuff is at the right price, get genuine Volvo stuff from him he has a secret source.

Mark at Voldat imports aftermarket stuff and does MTE/TME Sweden tunes and exhausts, they also supply IPD USA. Great tunes too.

There's other tuners online you can have build you a tune file and cheaper than Hilton, get a VIDA and DICE and load it yourself.........

Ozvolvo has a discount shipping deal with FCP EURO , you set up your cart, email Scott Drodz the owner and he adjusts the cart shipping,usually straight away!

    Welcome aboard!

    There's a couple of other decent intake kit options including the Snabb intake pipe kit - available from Snabb in the US or from us (www.dvs.net.au, we are a Snabb reseller) in Australia.

    The P1 C30/S40/V50 is a great platform, which better build quality than the LS-LV Focus XR5. You could argue that the Mazda3 MPS (BK-BL) has aged a little better, but the Volvo variants would be my pick of the bunch.

    The platform responds well to change and they can be a fun car to drive.

    Ironically, I was actually chasing a V50T5 when this came along as the starting point. :)

      I'm based in WA so will give Mark @ Voldat a call regarding downpipe availability.

      I've been reading/youtubing for a few days and it seems most of the xr5 pipes contact the transfer case and need to be slightly extended. I haven't found any posts that s40 awd's have fit them without modification.

      I'll search the forum, are there any preferred suppliers for the VIDA/DICE?

      Excellent resource to have with FCP Euro, i'll be ordering some service items through there!

        If i hadn't of ordered the do88 intake pipe already the snabb would have been perfect. Does Snabb produce any downpipes for the p1? i see they have some options for the s60 but not the s40?

            @Jamest5r_ mate in UK sells a laptop all ready set up with a DICE unit.

                Nice find, i also acquired same vehicle except mine is 09'. Be interested also in your modfication path as mine will be similar.

                No worries at all.

                Happy to help. No downpipes from Snabb - there's Elevate as @timbo mentioned, Milltek and Ferrita might do one too.

                    yes unfortunately as the ad specifies it is only compatible with the FWD.

                    it seems my only options are:

                    -JT via Martelius circa $1k including shipping

                    -FWD aftermarket, oem denied system circa $700 plus the cost to have a local shop modify to suit

                    -completely custom from a local shop

                    I've called all my local shops and nobody seems overly keen to do option 2 or 3 unfortunately.

                        Elevate supply fwd and awd downpipes- did you order the awd specific unit? They look to be top quality, a bit outside my budget once shipping is factored in.

                          My car was fwd with elevate downpipe and the I AWD converted it and the downpipe cleared everything without mods.

                          Being RHD we have more room to play with than the LHD cars

                          Hi mate,

                          sorry for the thread revival- has taken me a while to source the parts I wanted. I now have the intake, downpipe and decat, BOV i've been wanting so i'm nearly ready to throw it all on before tune.

                          I'm wanting to order the downpipe gasket, a few fasteners and sundries before I start.

                          I've had it all in the car through FCP Euro and I've emailed them on the website enquiry form to mention the shipping discount but I've heard nothing back- just wondering if you had a direct email for Scott Drodz?

                            Where did you end up sourcing the down pipe from? I also just bought a t5 awd s40 in Perth. Interested to see how your one is turned out
