I would say forget the O/S stuff , call Mark ( @Pom ) and get a set from a wreck tha way you get matched key fob so no problems setting one up , plug n play...

The push button on the TX91 remotes corrodes internally - get an identical replacement at jaycar for 10c and solder it back in

BTW Damien can get new remotes sent to you by just sending them a photo of the old ones. Dont ask me how they can code them from the photo but apparently they can. I sent them a broken one so they could match it.

Another option is to buy a 2nd hand genuine volvo alarm system for the 850 from overseas -uk or usa. It plugs straight in to the original relay position and then all you need is the remotes that match it. I saw some NOS ones at the time as well. Around $200 AUD at the time.

But for convenience and economy I chose to get new remotes from Damien for the dodgy aussie one instead.

Does anyone know where Damien is now as Carlos wasn't interested in supplying new remotes etc, just wants to sell a whole new system.

I'm yet to see an Australian 850 with a functioning aftermarket unit.

I have previously listed the receiver and fob part numbers.

You also need a different starter relay.

Update on this:

Damien has gone but all is not lost

Contacted Dynamco, based in Perth today and sent them a pic of the Australian made remote which most aussie dealers used in 1996 using a Lintek tx-89 board transmitter.

Spoke to Caleb and sent him a pic of the remote Damien supplied us for $26 five years ago

They do have stock but now they want $75 each for them plus $12 postage.

To get them now you contact Dynamco sales@dynamco.com.au and tell them you want a REM004C remote and attach a picture of the back of the old remotes circuit board so they can code it for you - tell them Caleb said $75 each plus $12 postage

He wanted $85 each but I said there were a few volvo guys looking for them so he dropped it to $75 each. Still almost 3 times the price they were 5 years ago so go figure

They sell the blank cases for $25 each - the key loop on the case has a habit of breaking if you hang 50 keys off it.

I have the original manual and installation instructions and after market relay details on these australian dealership fitted remotes. At some point I will do a write up on the aussie dealership system in case someone cant start their car because the battery went flat. BTW the genuine volvo immobiliser relays badged volvo used worldwide were actually australian made relays but for some weird reason were not fitted to australian delivered cars. In place of the aussie designed and made genuine volvo relay they fitted a clear perspex adapter plate with wiring tabs and harness that looked very diy and the relay function was done by a dodgy immobiliser box strapped up behind the steering column. Weird eh?

You’re confusing alarm & immobiliser relays, they are 2 separate & totally different systems which aren’t connected together. The immobiliser relays are Australian made & fitted to Australian as well as overseas delivered cars from mid 96. They tell the ECU to shut the engine down if the correct transponder chipped key is not detected 2 seconds after engine start. Genuine Volvo alarm relays are made in either Germany or Hungry, they set off the alarm horn if an attempt is made to break into the car & also disconnects the starter motor wiring when this happens. The aftermarket clear perspex relay fitted to Australian delivered cars is the alarm relay, not immobiliser relay.
