So, I bought the V70 with an undisclosed windscreen leak and tailgate leak which obviously caused a bit of damage. I believe both leaks are fully repaired now but this has resulted in the headlining looking atrocious.
Originally it was just around the leaking areas and I managed to fix this, to a degree, with headliner adhesive. Unfortunately, over the past couple of weeks practically the whole liner has sagged. I think that maybe a combination of the moisture from the leaks and heat from being parked in the sun has destroyed the adhesive. I tried to stick it back up with headliner adhesive, which worked for a day or so while there car was out of the sun. One day parked outside though and it's down again.
My new plan is, remove the headboard from the car and replace the lining on it. Local upholsterers, or at least those that return my calls/messages, are chasing approx $400 to replace it but I need to have removed it from the vehicle first.
How big a job is it to do myself? What do I need to watch for when removing it - will I trip any airbags? Are there any wires/hoses that I may damage? Where do I get new upholstery? Recommendations on adhesive - permatex?
Any guidance would be appreciated. Or even recommendations for a decent upholsterer around the Gold Coast area.
Thanks
