waleus Can I get a consensus of which way is up on this mount? Happy to smash the bolt out and put a longer one in, just need to know which way is up 🙂
carnut222 The way you have it in the last photos is the correct way up. The bracket bit with the stud on it is incorrect for the mount...so it looks like U either need a different mount or a different gearbox bracket.
waleus Just found this on volvo dealers page Which looks like the orientation is rubber side up and it also likes very different to the part i have despite it being in their parts list. So unless they have marked the wrong parts in their list, it doesnt fit or look the same
Major Ledfoot You need to do some serious comparative anatomy. I would suggest examining the following - 900 94+ parts book, drawings 65213 (for AW70-71 mounting) and 68269 (for AW30-40 crossmember, transmission attachment, and rubber mount); 240 79-84 parts book, drawing 37358 - whoops, should be Drawing 42833 - (showing the different ways BW55 and AW71 transmissions were mounted, and how there are 3 variations of crossmember. Note that rubber mount - [28], aka p/n 1206217-0- looks to be a similar shape to the one used with the AW30-40 in the 960, but it's a different animal altogether .... as it is p/n 1328900-4).
waleus Major Ledfoot You sir are very helpful, thankyou ! I have ordered some other rubber mounts for the variations available and will see what fits when it gets here. With regards to the crossmember i see that some of the 240 manuals had a slightly different crossmember, instead of the hump they had a flat mount If anyone has one of these they want to part with please hit me up with a PM as it looks like it will save me some time in fabrication working with the hump, notching it.
Major Ledfoot waleus That's the manual transmission mount. This is Drawing 42833 (note correction from my post above) from the 240 79-84 parts book. The AW55, BW55, and AW71 all share similar mountings. This is Drawing 65213 from the 900 94+ parts book for the AW70-71. Finally, here is Drawing 68269 from the same book for mounting the AW30-40LE. Note how the crossmember is of a totally different shape and design (it's actually made of alloy). To mount the AW30-40LE, you may have to use the rear bracket from a BW55 or whatever you car came with, or source an AW71 bracket and mount. That will also depend on what crossmember type you have, which will likely be one of those shown in Drawing 42833. ``
Ex850R I'd just cut the one you got to make it work, it's just a isolator after all. Revisit later if needs be, easy to swap.
waleus Thanks for the replies , I am going to have a crack at using the mount I have as a template to cut and notch the crossmember and get alignment, the new mounts should be here on Tuesday, then some final check and measure and bolt this thing in and get the engine bolted in and get things moving. Will update photos when I have done some more work on it.
