89 240 Wagon Rear Bar Rust Cuts

Hi,

Just chasing down a wrecked 240 wagon for some rust cuts to sort out this mess in the rear.

Any tips welcomed here as this is my first time doing a patch up. I've just cut out the worst of the rust for now.

I'm guessing the holes are far too big for fibre glass sheets

One option is to just buy a sheet of galvanised steel sheet (EDIT: the very thin stuff...like 0.5 mm thick) from Bunnings, cut it a bit larger than the holes and pop-rivet it around the perimeter, then prime and cover the edges with seam sealer. The one area across the centre you could bend down the galvanised sheet to match the profile. I've used this method in the past and it works OK on areas that are not visible. Getting cuts of that area seems like overkill given the simple shape of the required patch pieces. Just my humble opinion. :)
