That would be a great buy!
Spac
Depending on the symptoms, could be as simple as O2 sensor(s).
THAt would make it a bargain!

I was keen till I read auto lol. Awesome price, highish k's - Engine problem does sound odd though. Depending what they mean by 'stops for no reason'.
Good buy. I'd buy it..... But this time, I am putting a projector before another Volvo unlike my 850R :P
PaddlerEd
That looks like it's in the UK, not Aus...

It blows a little white smoke on startup they said. Could be o2 ,IAC maybe ? Someone from NSW is after it I suspect Mehmet but he would ship it rather than fly down as the owner suggested.....He has too many cars he reckons as well.....sure.

Valve stem seals would be my guess. It's done a fair amount of clicks. So expect some surprises if it has no service history. At minimum expect, PCV, Drop links, CV boots, cam belt etc.
Ex850R
Yeah , alll the usual plus a windscreen and as the ad says it has a lot of little things , i may be onto it unless the NSW person gets it first....
Rob
do it
Ex850R
Doppelganger! So I just lost what was posted!?
Damn!
Ex850R
Dont know yet , the peep from NSW (do we know who? ) is supposedly flying down or talking to them , i offered the full price so i dont know.....
Yes , the double post comes up for me on android when i psot , thats why my last one dissapeared....
Ex850R
SOLD , not me , he offered consolation by saying he expected it would cost $8-10K to fix it proper.....At full cost workshop and if it needed head done and rings , yeah. My R (same motor) had a big gulp of a puddle in a very wet week years ago , it was mentioned by mechanic that insurance may pay , $8000 later for head reco and one new rod and piston all done at a proper workshop with labour costs high , the insurer ws happy to pay so i think he is correct in that regard.
Ohh well , an XC70 is whats on order i think....Lowered , colour code the plastics , mmmm.
Inski
Yeah sorry that was me, I flew down and drove it dubbo.
Ex850R
Any good? He didnt want to sell it to me in the end...How much? Price as listed?
Inski
Yeah body is good, front bumper needs a spray but not cracked, I replace the starter, map and maf, now starts and runs great got to Melbourne to dubbo on a tank, good tyres, needs a few little things like ds check strap and engine mounts, but other then that I managed to fix a lot of things before I went on the boat, just little things like bad earths. he sold it to me for $700,
Rob

You did get in first but i did offer the price he was after... Hope its all good , i geuss he missed out on the cash ey...

Don't get me wrong, there was a chance of engine issues, he neglected checking the oil, and when I checked it it was very low wasn't on the dipstick. So I said to him I am going to walk away, It was to much of a risk for 1500. So we come to a deal of 700. It seems to have been due to the maf issue, it was over fueling and thinning the oil, and burnt it out, the Pcv system is good took the oil cap and it wasn't jumping so no blow by. And over the 1200k trip it didn't use a drop. But that's as far as I looked at it, going to do some more work on it on the weekend, the only other evident thing it needs front and rear pads, rotors and handbrake cable.
Rob
risky. but good buying none the less... well done.

I thought he didn't know much about it and was getting scammed by his mechanic. There isn't too much to go wrong with these motors unless the cooling system fails. I have heard of turbo motors covered in oil with blocked flame trap and being neglected and after all fixed run fine! The MAS is a common fault anyway , O2s after that. I would do the 'o' rings in the oil pan too while you are doing oil flushes and fills. They harden if the thing has been neglected so you get tappy on starts and after sitting running for a while . Plugs , leads , dizzy cap n rotor and all the vacuum lines. The flame trap/ pcv oil and VAC lines will be toast unless done properly even if it doesn't pressurise.
