Regan Just recently bought a 1986 240 that won't start. It has spark changed plugs of my other working 240 to be sure, I believe the fuel pump relay is buggerd as I hear no click upon turning the key. I tried jumping a wire from 4 to 6 (main pump and in tank pump) with the fuses in but no start not even a flutter. I can hear the main pump work after that but unsure how loud the intank pump should be. Won't even flutter with start ya bastard.
Regan I'm definitely getting fuel to the rail after jumping it can hear it flowing through.. tried to re solder the fuel pump relay to no avail. But seeing as I have fuel and spark it should at least splutter on its own?
ramrod Test that the injectors are openingYou can have fuel delivery and spark, but with no injectors actuating there will be no startYou can verify injector operation using an injector noid test lamp

Ecu or more mysterious wires? Doing my best I'm just not the most mechanically inclined person haha.Got a mate coming over tonight with a noid test lamp ill keep you updated

Ex850R Power to the computers?Wiring on old cars is crap, check everything.....Dave Barton makes new looms as do some on here.
ramrod Yes the engine wiring harness on those models is very suspect, it could be other causes alsoWhere abouts is the car located

As I know it's not working I've tried bridging 4-6 and bringing the relay socket itself to no avail. Its weird as I've seen other lh2.2s have a different relay to mine mine looks more like a K jet one. I identified one of the other similar relays as the wiper relay but there's one almost identical one next to it Car is located in South West Vic
Regan UPDATE: Can confirm it was wrong relay. Swapped it with another I found in my older Volvo and after some tweaking bang fired up. Not bad considering I bought this Volvo for $200 ?
