Hey, just wondering is anyone has a BW35 box for a slant redblock they want to get rid of, preferably with torque converter?
I'm in Brisbane but aren't scared of driving or having stuff shipped.
Cheers

JFYI, if you're determined to replace the BW35, they do have removable bellhousings, so you can get a BW35 from something else and do a bellhousing swap. The difference between a B20 (upright) BW bell and a B21-type (slant) bell is the positioning of the 6 transmission attachment bolts.
That said, if you convert to an AW70 or 71, you'll never look back; having an overdriven top gear make a huge difference to fuel consumption at highway speeds.
Cheers for the info, but I'm chasing the 3 speed as the hemi 6 people know how to make them tough.
I'd prefer a whole unit in one go personally but the bellhousing for the slant engine is the most important part.

That's not to say the same processes cannot be applied to the 4 speed - For example do your friends know anything about the accumulator modification? That being the most important upgrade for these transmissions
They are basically the same transmission, a few minor differences including overdrive obviously
I have one but I wouldn't guarantee its condition, it would be best to rebuild it
Yeah, it would be a built box in the end, I just need a place to start.
They can be built to handle big hp 265ci hemi's quite cheaply, bit like 3 speed jatco box's people put behind turbo rb's.
The aw70/71 seem's to have no interest for aftermarket tough parts to be around.
Apologies, I didn't realise you were discussing the BW35, not the BW55 and AW55 as I had thought.
The BW35 is different to the later units and was only fitted to the very early cars up to about 1977 I believe. Then it went to 55 then 70
Ford Falcons used the BW35 as well as many other makes and models

I'd be interested in any resources that detail how you build these. My recent acquisition is a 5/77 car so I'm assuming it will be a bw35.
Voldat may have something for you, they do old and new, two guys there cover all years of Volvo with great experience.
There will be an ID tag on the left side of the transmission case directly above the fluid pan
Also someone may change the transmission at some point in 45 years so never assume what you have is factory fitted
