Picking this up on Friday for the dogs etc and to drive to and from work so I don't have to drive the R all the time . It's lived on a farm , I couldn't even drive mine down the driveway. Straight away needs both top mounts on the suspension doing , apart from a little bit rough it'll do the job . A few lights on on the dash , 300k+ but cam belt etc service 60k ago .

I drove it for 10 ks from country roads to normal roads up to 100 and a bit .
Don't get me wrong the front suspension is gone mostly top mounts but it still held its ground. Even advertised as . Tbh Don't remember what lights were on . This really is no show pony , and probably stay that way . Just good for purely A to B and a bit
Unless you have $5k to put into it over the next few years.... dump it

Unless free and as rough as it is it's scrap value only.
Wreckers don't want them as when gearbox goes they are useless
Box can be fixed but would need to be pristine low mileage car or still not worth it.

The auto issues are just more common on the xc70s
Outside of the auto... they are actually pretty reliable but do need a lot of wear items done regularly

I had a look at an astra last week and a commodore station wagon week before both more money than this but extremely rough . So I'll class it as a win . It'll do me fine
Might even throw the volans on it ?
It presents well, hopefully it has no nasty surprises. I'd say a better buy than an Astra/Commodore , certainly more practical.
Give it a good service and hopefully it outlasts your expectations.

I do hope the gearbox holds out, some last. As I said, you can get a repair kit from Level Ten Automatics in USA. Makes it a tough gearbox too.
Or swap an M66 in!

Gearbox feels smooth as . It's actually got a full service history apart from last 18 months , the guy I bought it from it was his first car . It's actually a WA car from new surprisingly .
Totally flush gearbox, cabin & air filters.
Any leaks underneath , front and back ?
