1998 S90 fuel pump issues

Hi All,

I have no experience with anything newer than a 740 so am in a learning phase here. The car has been sat for 6-12 months and was apparently running fine when parked.

Currently there is no fuel pressure and the relays appear to be working fine. The tank has had a couple of hits from underneath though no pressure.

Are there any common problems with the fuel pump system on these? I guess I am looking for something like the 240 fuel pump relay issue, would prefer not replace the pump if there is a common problem elsewhere.

Single pump system is known to fail

Replace easily with genuine walbro 255 and never look back

The access panel is in the trunk just like a 740

Unplug wiring from the tank and backprobe for voltage, if 12v at harness at tank its the pump

Pump always primes at initial key to "run" for 2-3 seconds

My S90’s pump died from sitting around.

I replaced it with a good used pump… which then also appears to have died.

Modern fuels are awful.

Thanks guys, Walbro pump ordered.

Guessing that pump can go into a 240 tank too, sounds like the one often referred to around here.
