Hey guy’s,
Sorry if this sounds dumb or has been asked before but I can’t find much detail. And everything I can Find is not Australian.
So back in the day I had a 240 sedan, I converted it to manual, much fun was had smoking commodores etc at the lights.
Now I am 40 plus years old, but a tight arse, and I can’t get my head around buying Volvos for 10k that I used to buy for $500 in better condition.
So I went looking at non standard RWD Volvos, I found a 93 960, grandpa spec that looks to be in immaculate condition.
I want inline 6 as they are a well balanced engine, I’ve always found v6’s to be horrible and head gasket destroying. So that’s how I got to here and ultimately I am tossing up between the Volvo and a BMW turbo diesel, I’d even do an om606 / 613? But #australiasonoeffingway.
The research I have so says that the B6304 +t will make good power (around the 300kw mark) but I can’t for the like if me find anything to tell me how to do that? Ie what are the ingredients?
Can I get a turbo and manifold from a later t6 and bolt it up? Or is it fab your own? If so that’s it I’m out as I can make a welding rod look like chicken poo, but that’s about it.
Fuel system, is standard good enough, steel a pump from a later t6?
Engine Management, can the standard ecu handle the boost? Or do I need to go aftermarket?
Lastly has anyone else done this in Australia? If so do you have an approximate cost?
Thanks
