(QLD) 1971 145 Deluxe S - restoration

After its long life in NSW and QLD and storage for almost a decade, I brought it home last month. It’s in pretty incredible nick for its 50 years but does need some love.

This is an Aussie sister car to our families 1971 Safari Yellow 145 Deluxe S which I grew up with in Scotland, we toured Sweden in the 70’s and I learnt to drive with it in Glasgow in the 80’s. It rusted to a hulk and was scrapped in 1986, much to my Dads sorrow. He died almost 10 years ago but would love this as much as I do.

This is where it’s got to, 1 month in. Cut and polish. Interior material shampoo. Fuel tank out and refurbished, new petrol rubber hoses bought. Oil change, engine turned over and oil pressure light out. Next step Petrol pump dismantle and clean, fuel lines to be cleaned, carb top off and needles cleaned. It’s holding coolant and all electrics work. I’ll post again once it’s started.

Wow, very nice! Love it! Not many 145s on the road. A new Victorian member just got his on the road. I've had my 68 145S for about 10-15 years...always been registered or on club plates but sadly I don't drive it much.

This was my childhood 145s in Glasgow in the early 80’s with my Dad refitting it’s refurbished B20b. Bear in mind this one was only 10 years old in this picture. Hard life on the salty Scottish roads.

That's brilliant , reminds me of my old man , parents were poms . One of my first memories of my dads cars was a volvo of similar age era 80 - 81 down in Devon. Always remember that car , it was huge .
