What's better going for 400hp build I currently have Glyco coming as a last resort but if I can get some ACL because I hear they are OEM quality or like you say OEM Volvo ones that would be better than the Glyco

I always insist on using the best bits available where available (genuine)

OR better, if such a thing exists in the aftermarket world but when you think about it, who would bother developing, and producing bearings that are better quality, longer lasting than the Swedish made Volvo units, if that is even possible

The only factor which comes into the equation is cost

Glyco has been around since 1897 and is the largest supplier of bearings in Germany. Federal-Mogul purchased Glyco in 1990 but allowed manufacturing to be independent and they cross manufacture OE bearings for new domestic and imported cars now. Have used myself many times with no problems.

My 2c is that Mahle/Vandervell/Volvo genuine bearings are great for stock applications however they are bimetallic and when you're shooting for big power it doesn't hurt to upgrade to a trimetallic bearing such as Clevite TM-77's, at least for big ends.

The big end bearings I've had from them in the past are a direct fit assuming you have a mint crank. They spec a slightly tighter clearance from memory, something like 0.04mm but I can't recall exactly.
