I purchased a new Volvo sedan S60 T6 R-Design in 2013 which came with a satellite navigation system of 2013 version. I have been contacting Volvo local dealership and Volvo Australia regarding map updates for the satellite navigation. I have not got a definite answer to my question. Volvo Australia informs me that the reason I cannot update the satellite navigation is because my vehicle takes updates via DVD and Volvo Car Australia is moving away from DVD based updates to USB updates. The local Canberra dealer’s response is that they have already informed Volvo Australia for an answer.
The problem I have is this car does not have Apple CarPlay but has Bluetooth facility. My main purpose is to get latest map directions for navigation.
A technical person suggested that the way to futureproof sat nav is to fitting an aftermarket head-unit with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone mirroring by a car audio specialist. This mirrors my phone, so I can use always-up-to-date maps.
Please be kind enough to help me on how I can proceed with fitting Apple CarPlay in my Volvo Or smartphone mirroring. I live in Canberra
