GingerNinja Anyone have recommended places to get engine work done in Tasmania?I've had mixed results around Hobart and the place I had good work done last time has now closed. It's a turbo redblock so a pretty basic thing for most places I would imagine. Many thanks.
GingerNinja NicholasY What sort of work are you looking at getting done?I haven't had it inspected or tested for cylinder wall thickness but assuming the block and head are ok hopefully it's just a bore to 96.25mm for new pistons and then assemble the short block. I have most of the parts for the block. The head might just get stiffer springs under the stock VX3 cam for now. Unless I can find a fun turbo cam like KG2T or similar. I have almost no parts for the head.
Major Ledfoot If you're shopping for head parts, VP Auto seems to have the best deal on OHC tappets at present. UPDATE: Looks like they're out of stock of tappets at present, and they're looking for a new supplier.
Major Ledfoot volvodriverman If Phil Young in Grove Rd is still operating he's been my go to in the past.@volvodriverman - did you ever have any dealings with Engine Reconditioning & Parts in Frederick St LST? They've done a couple of 531 heads for me, but haven't tried them for machine work yet.
NicholasY I had some good block machining work done at Track and Truck Mechanical in Ulverstone. I think they might do some block assembly too, didn't do head work though.I'll ask some Hobart friends and see if they have used anyone good down there.
